Rail-Air Links in Poland

If you are arriving in Poland by plane, connecting to the national rail system is easy! Six of Poland's airports are now linked by rail to the country's rail network, and from all airports there are great connections to get from your plane to a train for onward travel to any point on the rail network.

Here you will find information on getting from Poland's commercial airports to the most convenient nearby railway station to continue your journey.

Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport (sometimes known as Warsaw Okecie) - website.
The airport is located in the southwest part of Warsaw, about 10 km. from the center.

Rail connections

To continue your travel by rail, the most convenient station is Warszawa Centralna, the main station, located on Jerozolimskie Ave. in downtown Warsaw. From Warszawa Centralna, long distance trains leave to all points in Poland. The adjacent Warszawa Srodmiescie station is the departure point for local trains to Warsaw's outer suburbs and nearby towns.

It is now possible to travel by rail from Warsaw Chopin airport to Warszawa Centralna (details below).

Local transport

Train

The train ride from the airport to the city centre (and main railway station) takes around 25 minutes. The frequency of departures: 20-30min.

The service is operated between 6:00 and 23:00 by SKM Szybka Kolej Miejska (Fast Urban Railway), line S2. (Note S2 stops at the adjacent Warszawa Srodmiescie railway station.)

Fares for using the rail connections:

You can use all the tickets offered by the Warsaw public transportation company (ZTM) for your rail connection between Warsaw Chopin Airport (Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina), Warsaw Śródmieście (Warszawa Śródmieście) and Warsaw East (Warszawa Wschodnia). You can travel with 75-minute ZTM ticket which costs 4.40PLN bought in most news kiosks or in the ticket machine located before the platform entrance.

Note ! The passenger who has not validated his ticket, earlier in the validating machine or in the metro entrance gate, should board the train by the first doors (from the front of the train) and ask the train manager to validate his ticket. Otherwise the passenger is treated as travelling without a valid ticket.

Bus

Warsaw city bus line #175 runs between the airport (bus stop on lower [arrivals] level) and Warszawa Centralna station (bus stop "Dworzec Centralny" on Jerozolimskie Ave.). Mazowian Airport Warsaw-Modlin Web Site

The airport is located near Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, northwest of Warsaw to Gdansk It is about 40 km. from Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Centralna train station) and about 50km. from Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina (Warsaw Chopin Airport).

Train

You can reach Warszawa Centralna station using train connection operated by Koleje Mazowiecke (KM-Mazovian Railways). Timetables and routes

Shuttle buses operated by KM run from Modlin airport to the Modlin railway station. Transfer to the Warsaw train is at Modlin train station. Timetable

Bonus!: With the "Bilet Lotniskowy" ("Airport Ticket") you can also use all means of public transport offered by Warsaw public transportation company ZTM in Warsaw (bus, tram, metro and SKM) in the first zone within 60min. Before you begin the trip you have to write down the starting time on your ticket.

Very important!: You can board KM trains on the KML line without a ticket or with non-validated one but then you have to use the first door at the front of the train and contact a conductor immediately to buy or validate your ticket!

Taxi

A taxi ride from the Modlin airport to Warszawa Centralna station should cost about 160-190PLN (about 40km - 40-60min). According to an official announcement, Sawa Taxi and Ele Taxi companies from Warsaw hold contracts to operate for the Modlin airport. As there is no official statement about it on the Airport's web page, we recommend you to always call and check the fare beforehand. And always remember to use only a marked taxi with a phone number and company name!

Another option is the http://www.transportmodlin.com service, which claims to offer more expensive but higher standard services than standard taxis.

John Paul II International Airport (sometimes known as Krakow Balice) Web Site

The airport is located to the west of Krakow, about 11 km. from the center.

Rail connections

To continue your travel by rail, the most convenient station is Krakow Glowny, the main station. From Krakow Glowny, long distance trains leave to all points in Poland.

Local transport

Train

A shuttle train is available between Krakow airport and the Krakow Glowny main railway station, operated by Koleje Malopolskie. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes. A taxi ride from the Krakow airport to the Krakow Glowny station should cost about 70PLN. The airport has its own official taxi service, with cars waiting outside the terminal. See the airport web site for more information.

Gdansk Lech Walesa International Airport (sometimes known as Gdansk Rebiechowo) Web Site

The airport is located to the west of Gdansk, about 8 km. from the center.

Rail connections

To continue your travel by rail, the most convenient station is Gdansk Glowny, the main station. You can also use Gdansk Wrzeszcz, a smaller suburban station at which most trains also stop. From Gdansk Glowny, long distance trains leave to all points in Poland.

Train

A train service, operated by PKM, is available between the airport and the Gdansk Wrzeszcz train station, and to Gdynia. (Some trains are extended to the Gdansk Glowny main train station). Tickets cost 4.80PLN to Gdansk Wrzeszcz, and 7.00PLN to travel further to Gdynia. At Gdansk Wrzeszcz it is possible to transfer to long-distance trains, as well as to local trains to the Gdansk Glowny main railway station, to Sopot, and to Gdynia. The journey time is 20 minutes. There is a direct rail connection to this airport. You can travel by train to Szczecin or Kolobrzeg, from where you connect onward to other points in Poland.
