Travel by night

The most convenient and comfortable way to travel between Krakow and Budapest is to catch the direct night train, the "Chopin". This train carries have 2nd class seats, couchettes, and sleeping cars with 1-, 2- or 3- person standard compartments. Sleeping cars have individual beds, along with a wash basin and room for luggage. You can book just one bed in a Double or Triple, but compartments are gender-specific unless you book the entire compartment. The price includes pillow, bedding and blanket. The car attendant can provide complimentary morning coffee/tea and a snack. Couchettes can be booked in compartments with 4 or 6 beds. Couchette compartments are always mixed-sex. The price includes pillow, bedding and blanket.

Direct train Krakow-Budapest (new!)

From 09 December 2018, a new direct daytime Krakow to Budapest connection takes to the rails. Departing mid-morning and arriving early evening, you can travel in 2nd class directly from city centre to city centre. An onboard buffet car provides drinks, snacks and light meals as you speed through the countryside.

Travel between Krakow and Katowice and vice-versa is in a economy regional train in 2nd class with open seating. Between Katowice and Breclav and Budapest you will travel in a comfortable reserved seat in a EuroCity train. On this route buffet car service is available. In both directions you will have time to get something to eat or drink at Katowice railway station.
