Fare Deals offered by Polish Rail Operators

With several train operators now offering passenger transport in Poland, special competitive deals are also appearing on the market. This page attempts to track the current offers which may beneficial for the business or leisure traveller.

The offers are divided by operating company:

CURRENT OFFERS FROM PKP INTERCITY

Due to the December timetable change. many offers have been withdrawn and new ones introduced. We are currently summarizing the new offers and will present them here shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The offers below apply to Fast, TLK, Express, InterCity and EuroCity category trains operated by PKP InterCity:

PKP InterCity Weekend Ticket (Bilet weekendowy)
Cost: 119 zloty (2nd class); 199 zloty (1st class)
Description:

The Weekend Ticket can be used on domestic Fast, InterCity, Express and TLK services in 1st or 2nd class. The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel during the validity of the ticket.

After buying the Weekend Ticket, one must purchase a seat reservation (at half price) on any of the trains on which they wish to travel (excluding Fast trains, as they carry only unreserved seating):

Cost: IC-12.50 zl, Ex-7.50zl, TLK 2.50 zl.

Validity:

The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel from 1900 on the day before a free day until 2400 on the day before a working day (e.g. last day of free period).

For example:

  • on the traditional 2 day weekend of 10–11 January 2009, travel could begin on Friday, 09 January at 1900 and must finish no later than Sunday, 11 January at 2400.
  • on the long weekend of 11–13 April 2009, travel could begin on Friday, 10 April at 1900 and must finish no later than Monday, 13 April at 2400.
Where to buy: The weekend ticket must be purchased at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations.
   
PKP InterCity "Traveller" Ticket (Bilet podróżnika)
Cost: 65 zloty (2nd class); 95 zloty (1st class)
Description:

The Traveller Ticket can be used on domestic Fast and TLK services in 1st or 2nd class. The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel during the validity of the ticket.

In the case of TLK-category trains, one must purchase a seat reservation on the train on which they wish to travel (at a cost of 5 zl.). Thse tickets are not valid on international TLK trains.

Validity:

The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel from 1900 on the day before a free day until 0600 on the day after the last day of a free period.

For example:

  • on the traditional 2 day weekend of 10–11 January 2009, travel could begin on Friday, 09 January at 1900 and must finish no later than Monday, 12 January at 0600.
  • on the long weekend of 11–13 April 2009, travel could begin on Friday, 10 April at 1900 and must finish no later than Tuesday, 14 April at 0600.
Where to buy: The weekend ticket must be purchased at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations.
   

PKP InterCity "2 for 1" reservations (Super Miejscówka)

Cost: Varies, depending on train category (see below)
Description:

This is a special promotion of PKP InterCity for travellers whose journey requires a change of train en route. Instead of having to purchase two seat reservations, you purchase one, and the reservation for the second train is free. (Four-seat compartments are not included in this offer.) The offer can be used on domestic TLK, Express, and IC services, as well as the EC "Chopin" between Warszawa Centralna and Katowice.

The price includes the cost of a seat reservation.

Validity:

Only valid on the day, train, and seat noted on the reservation.

Where to buy:

Reservations must be made at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations. (i.e. has a KURS'90 computer terminal).

     

 

CURRENT OFFERS FROM PRZEWOZY REGIONALNE

The offers below apply to trains operated by Przewozy Regionalne (Regional Railways):

PKP Przewozy Regionalne 3-day pass (Regio Karnet)

Cost:

55 zloty (allows travel in local (osobowy) trains only
79 zloty (allows travel in all trains operated by PKP PR)

Description:

The 3-day pass is an offer that entitles the holder to unlimited travel on trains operated by "PKP Przewozy Regionalne", with the exception of any trains having a special tariff (such as the "Papal Train"). There are two versions, one valid only on local (osobowy) trains, and the second valid on all PKP PR services (including InterRegio trains). The pass is good for 3 full days of travel chosen within a 60-day of the date of issue. The passenger chooses the days; they don't have to be consecutive.

There is no refund on this ticket after the start of its validity.

Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

The pass entitles the holder to 3 full calendar days of travel (00.01–24:00) in a 60-day period from the date of issue. If travelling on a direct train that starts its journey before midnight, travel to the destination is permitted, even after midnight.

For each day of travel, the holder must validate the pass by presenting it at ticket window or to a train conductor for a validation stamp (there is no charge for this).

The pass is issued in the holder's name and is non-transferable.

Tickets may be bought only in ticket offices.

     

PKP Przewozy Regionalne Tourist ticket (Bilet turystyczny)

Cost:

30 zloty (allows travel in local [osobowy] trains only)
60 zloty (allows travel in all trains operated by PKP PR)

Description:

The tourist ticket is a weekend offer that entitles the holder to unlimited travel on trains operated by "PKP Przewozy Regionalne", with the exception of any trains having a special tariff (such as the "Papal Train"). There are two versions, one valid only on local (osobowy) trains, and the second valid on all PKP PR services (including InterRegio trains).

There is no refund on this ticket after the start of its validity.

Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

The ticket entitles the holder to unlimited travel on consecutive free days and holidays from 1800 on the day before the first free day of the period until 0600 on the Monday or the day following a holiday.

The pass is issued in the holder's name and is non-transferable.

Tickets may be bought only in ticket offices.

     

PKP Przewozy Regionalne network ticket (Bilet sieciowy)

Cost:

120 zloty (1-week pass)
300 zloty (1-month pass)

Description:

The network ticket allows unlimited travel in 1st or 2nd class on all trains operated by PKP Przewozy Regionalne during the period of validity. This includes local (osobowy) and InterRegio trains.

There is no refund on this ticket after the start of its validity.

Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

The ticket is valid from 0001 on the first date of validity until 2400 on the last date of the validity period.

The pass is issued in the holder's name and is non-transferable.
