Fare Deals offered by PKP Operators

With several train operators now offering passenger transport in Poland, special competitive deals are also appearing on the market. This page attempts to track the current offers which may beneficial for the business or leisure traveller.

The offers are divided by operating company:

CURRENT OFFERS FROM PKP INTERCITY

The offers below apply to TLK, Express, InterCity and EuroCity category trains operated by PKP InterCity:

PKP InterCity Weekend Ticket (Bilet Weekendowy)
Cost: 99 zloty (2nd class)
149 zloty (1st class)
Description:

The Weekend Ticket can be used on domestic InterCity, Express and TLK services in second class only. (Berlin-Warsaw-Express excluded) The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel during the validity of the ticket.

After buying the Weekend Ticket, one can travel without a reservation, taking a free seat in any 2nd class carriage. However, the traveler is obligated to give up that seat if a person with a paid reservation shows up and claims it.

If the holder of a weekend ticket wishes a guaranteed seat, they must purchase a seat reservation on any of the trains on which they wish to travel:

Cost: IC-18 or 12 zl, Ex-9zl, TLK 3 zl.

Validity:

The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel from 1800 on the day before a free day until 2400 on the day before a working day (e.g. last day of free period).

For example:

  • on the traditional 2 day weekend of 26-27 July 2003, travel can begin on Friday, 25 July at 1800 and must finish no later than Sunday, 27 July at 1800. (the ticket would be valid 48 hours)
  • on the long weekend of 25-28 December 2003, travel can begin on Wednesday, 24 December at 1800 and must finish no later than Sunday, 28 December at 1800. (the ticket would be valid 96 hours)
Where to buy: The weekend ticket must be purchased at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations.
   

PKP InterCity "2 for 1" reservations (Super Miejscówka)

Cost: Varies, depending on train category (see below)
Description:

This is a special promotion of PKP InterCity for travellers whose journey requires a change of train en route. Instead of having to purchase two seat reservations, you purchase one, and the reservation for the second train is free. (Four-seat compartments are not included in this offer.) The offer can be used on domestic TLK, Express, and IC services, as well as the EC "Chopin" between Warszawa Centralna and Katowice.

The price includes the cost of a seat reservation.

Validity:

Only valid on the day, train, and seat noted on the reservation.

Where to buy:

Reservations must be made at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations. (i.e. has a KURS'90 computer terminal).

     
PKP InterCity System Pass (Bilet Sieciowy Imienne)
Cost:

One week pass (7 consecutive days): 245 zloty (2nd class)/367.50 zloty (1st class)
One month pass: 725 zloty (2nd class)/1087.50 zloty (1st class)

Description:

PKP InterCity system passes can be used on domestic TLK, InterCity, EuroCity and Express services. The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel on these servcies for the period of the pass.

The price includes the cost of a seat reservation. You must request seat reservations at a ticket window and present your pass.

Validity:

The ticket-holder's name will be written on the ticket at the time of purchase, along with the number of an identification document such as a passport. The identification document must be shown upon request during ticket inspections while travelling.

Where to buy:

System passes must be purchased at a PKP InterCity ticket office or other ticket office offering tickets and seat reservations.

 

CURRENT OFFERS FROM PKP PRZEWOZY REGIONALNE

The offers below apply to Fast and Local category trains operated by PKP Przewozy Regionalne:

PKP Przewozy Regionalne 3-day pass (Region Karnet)

Cost:

130 zloty (allows travel in 1st and 2nd class)

Description:

The 3-day pass is an offer that entitles the holder to unlimited travel in first or second class on local (osobowy) and fast (pospieszny) trains operated by "PKP Przewozy Regionalne" (which is to say, all local and fast trains), with the exception of any trains having a special tariff (such as the "Papal Train"). The pass is good for 3 full days of travel chosen within a 60-day of the date of issue.

There is no refund on this ticket after the start of its validity.

Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

The pass entitles the holder to 3 full calendar days of travel (00.01–24:00) in a 60-day period from the date of issue. If travelling on a direct train that starts its journey before midnight, travel to the destination is permitted, even after midnight.

For each day of travel, the holder must validate the pass by presenting it at ticket window or to a train conductor for a validation stamp (there is no charge for this).

The pass is issued in the holder's name and is non-transferable.

PKP Przewozy Regionalne Tourist ticket (Bilet turystyczny)

Cost:

60 zloty (2nd class)
80 zloty (1st class)

Description:

The tourist ticket is a weekend offer that entitles the holder to travel in second class on local (osobowy) and fast (pospieszny) trains operated by "PKP Przewozy Regionalne" (which is to say, all local and fast trains).

There is no refund on this ticket after the start of its validity.

Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

The ticket entitles the holder to unlimited travel on consecutive free days and holidays from 1800 on the day before the first free day of the period until 0600 on the Monday or the day following a holiday.

The pass is issued in the holder's name and is non-transferable.

Where to buy:

Tickets may be bought only in ticket offices.

     

PKP Przewozy Regionalne Individual Excursion Ticket (Bilet Wycieczkowy Indywidualny)

Cost:

Varies (this is a discount applied to a normal ticket—see description below)

Description:

An Individual Excursion Ticket maybe be bought by anyone, to any station lying up to 200 km from the origin point.

These tickets are available for use in second class on local (osobowy) and fast (pospieszny) trains:

  • one way--15% discount
  • round trip--33% discount, if journey is by same route in both directions
Validity:

Travel must take place as follows:

  • departure must be after 2000 on the day before a holiday or free day, or all day on a free day
  • return must occur before midnight on the last day of the holiday or free day
  • no stopovers are allowed en route

Tickets may be bought in ticket offices and from train conductors.

   

PKP Przewozy Regionalne System Pass (Bilet Sieciowy Imienne)

Cost:

One week pass (7 consecutive days): 160.00 zloty (2nd class)/240.00 zloty (1st class)
One month pass: 520.00 zloty (2nd class)/780.00 zloty (1st class)

Description:

This system pass ticket entitles the holder to travel in first or second class on local (osobowy) and fast (pospieszny) trains operated by "PKP Przewozy Regionalne". The ticket holder is entitled to unlimited travel on these services for the period of the pass.

For an additional 10.00 zloty you may take your bicycle with you.

Validity:

The ticket-holder's name will be written on the ticket at the time of purchase, along with the number of an identification document such as a passport. The identification document must be shown upon request during ticket inspections while travelling.
