New connections to/from Poland in 2007/8!

The European 2007/2008 timetable will take effect on 09 December 2007, and Polrail Service is pleased to present information on the changes and new connections to be found in the new timetable. There are several exciting new connections, including daytime Warsaw-Krakow-Budapest service, as well as changes to make existing services more convenient. A summary of the changes follows:

1. EC Jozef Bem-new daytime connection from Warsaw/Krakow to Kosice and Budapest

The new EuroCity train "Jozef Bem" will operate on the route Warsaw-Krakow-Muszyna-Kosice-Budapest. The train will be equipped with air-conditioned 1st and 2nd class wagons, along with a Hungarian Railways restaurant car. Departure from Warsaw is at 0905 and Krakow at 1210, arriving in Kosice at 1800 and Budapest at 2127. The opposite connection departs Budapest at 0835 and Kosice at 1155, arriving Krakow at 1745 and Warsaw at 2049.

2. New direct connection to Holland

The night train EN Jan Kiepura will provide the possibility of a direct connection from Warsaw and Poznan to Amsterdam. The train will carry comfortable sleeping cars, couchettes, and reclining seating (sleeperettes). Departure will be daily from Warszawa Centralna at 1755, arriving in Amsterdam at 1027 the next morning. The opposite number departs Amsterdam at 1903, arriving Poznan at 0739 and Warszawa Centralna at 1040.

3. New connection from Warsaw and Poznan to Nuremberg and Munich

A new direct couchette will connect these cities. Departure from Warszawa Centralna is at 1755, arriving in Nuremberg at 0645 and Munich at 0857. Returning, the connection departs Munich at 1900 and Nuremberg at 2135, arriving at Poznan at 0739 and Warszawa Centralna at 1040.

4. New connection from Warsaw and Poznan to Basel.

This new couchette connection provides and convenient link from Poland to the Swiss city. Departure from Warszawa Centralna is at 1755, arriving in Basel at 1037. Returning, the connection departs Basel at 1804, arriving at Poznan at 0739 and Warszawa Centralna at 1040.

5. Changes to EN Jan Kiepura

The night train Jan Kiepura will continue to serve the Warsaw-Frankfurt/Main route with sleeping wagons, couchettes and reclining seat wagons (sleeperettes). The train leaves Warszawa Centralna at 1755 and arrives Frankfurt/Main at 0654. Departing Frankfurt/M at 2219, the morning arrival in Warsaw is at 1040. Due to the extention of this train to Amsterdam, three additional stops in Germany will be added at Hagen, Sollingen and Wupertal; however, previous stops at Bochum and Essen will be eliminated (connections to these cities will be possible from Dortmund).

6. More trains to Berlin

An additional EuroCity "Berlin-Warszawa-Express" train is being introduced between Poznan and Berlin. The train will run 2 days a week, departing Poznan on Saturdays and Mondays at 0601, arriving Berlin Hbf. at 0923. The train will depart Berlin Hbf. on Fridays and Sundays at 1830, arriving Poznan at 2145. The train will make additional stops in Poland at Nowy Tomysl, Zbaszynek and Swiebodzin. This train will be equipped with air-conditioned wagons, a restaurant wagon, and a wagon for carrying passengers with special needs and bicycles. There will also be changes to existing Berlin-Warszawa-Express services; 3 pairs of trains will be adding a stop in Swiebodzin, and 2 pairs in Zbaszynek.

7. New arrangement of night connections from Warsaw and Krakow to Bratislava and Budapest

A new routing for the night trains from Warsaw and Krakow to Budapest will now allow for a direct connection from Krakow to Bratislava as well. Sleeping wagons, couchettes and 2nd class seated wagons will depart Warsaw at 2105 and Krakow at 2225, arriving in Bratislava at 0541 and Budapest at 0832. The return connection leaves Budapest at 2000 and Bratislava at 2251, arriving Krakow at 0622 and Warsaw at 0705. This new arrangement reduces travel time from Krakow to Budapest by 3 hours!

8. New summer couchette from Krakow to Lake Balaton

A new summer-only direct couchette will operate from Krakow to the shores of Lake Balaton in Hungary. Departure from Krakow is at 2245 with arrival in Keszthely at 1319. The return leaves Keszthely at 1445 and arrives in Krakow at 0540. This couchette also serves Budapest.

9. Changes in schedule of EuroCity "Praha" to Prague

The "Praha" will now leave Warsaw 2 hours later at 0910, arriving Prague at 1754. This will allow more trains from other parts of Poland to connect to the "Praha".

10. Changes in schedule of EuroCity "Sobieski" to Vienna

The "Sobieski" will now leave Warsaw 1 hour earlier, departing at 11000 and arriving Vienna at 1828. This change is to allow a comfortable connection to the Vienna-Rome connecting train.

11. Couchettes from Wroclaw and Katowice to Odessa

A new couchette connection from Wroclaw to Odessa will now operate. Departure from Wroclaw is at 0815, with arrival in Odessa at 1212 the next day. Returning, the connection leaves Odessa at 1700, arriving Wroclaw at 2025 the next day.

12. New direct service from Krakow and Kielce to Moscow

Direct travel from Krakow and Kielce to Moscow will be available in the form of a through sleeping wagon. Departure from Krakow is at 0612 and Kielce at 0806, arriving Moscow at 1059 the next day. Returning, the sleeper leaves Moscow at 2109, arriving in Kielce at 2007 and Krakow at 2211 the next day.
