BahnCard—Your DB Bahn discount card for frequent travellers
If you will make even just a few trips in Germany, a BahnCard can be a worthwhile investment. You can save on domestic ticket prices. And you can also save if your trip begins or ends outside Germany.
There are three types of BahnCard discount cards:
The choice for occasional travelers and families: BahnCard 25 already pays off with one annual journey of more than €200 in second class. BahnCard 25 costs just €62 for second class and €125 for first class and grants 25% reduction on the full fare for a whole year. For partners, children and selected groups (e.g. students or senior citizens) the BahnCard 25 can be purchased at reduced rates.
The BahnCard 25 is valid for one year from the date of issue and will be automatically renewed for one year, unless it is cancelled no later than 6 weeks before its renewal date.
Travel flexibly and save at the same time: BahnCard 50 costs just €255 for standard class and €515 for 1st class and is not valid in connection with Saver fares. Children, students under 27 years and senior citizens over 60 years pay only half the price for their BahnCard 50. For partners, children and selected groups (e.g. students or senior citizens) the BahnCard 50 can be purchased at reduced rates.
The BahnCard 50 is valid for one year from the date of issue and will be automatically renewed for one year, unless it is cancelled no later than 6 weeks before its renewal date.
Just hop on the next train: BahnCard 100 offers 12 months travel on all DB services. It only costs €4,090 for standard class and €6,890 for 1st class.
BONUS!: City-Ticket for BahnCard users
Your long-distance ticket (routes of more than 100 km) purchased with a BahnCard discount entitles you to use bus, rapid transit, underground or tram free of charge in the City-Ticket's area of validity within the city boundaries of 120 German cities in order to reach the station for the start of your journey and to reach your final destination after arriving at the destination station. You are required to purchase your ticket with BahnCard discount, your destination is over 100 km from your orign and is within City-Ticket zone. City-Ticket is free and is automatically noted on your DB-ticket with "+City" behind the DB station name.
BahnCard 100 automatically includes a City-Ticket. BahnCard 100 is valid for any number of journeys within the areas of validity of the participating City-Ticket cities. Please note that children are not entitled to accompany you free of charge on local public transport services.
